Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Does Peoples Claims only deal with accident cases?
A. Yes. Peoples Claims only handles compensation claims arising from accidents or negligence. All cases will be covered by the "no-win, no-fee" agreement. Your Peoples Claim advisor will be happy to provide you with full details with no obligation.

Q. How long will the claim take?
A. This will depend on the circumstances of your case. A straightforward road traffic accident can be settled within a month, whilst more serious injuries may take longer. Once we have carried out initial investigations, we will be in a better position to accurately predict the length of time of completion. You will be kept update with any progress throughout the case by your Peoples Claim advisor.

Q. Does it matter how long ago my accident happened?
A. Yes, generally, you have three years from the date of your injury to make a claim. If the accident happened prior to your 18th birthday, the three years does not start until your 18th birthday. There are other exceptions to this three-year rule, which your Peoples Claim advisor can explain to you in full.

Q. I am not sure if I have a genuine claim.
A. Peoples Claims assess each claim on an individual basis. If you have no case, we will tell you. It is not in your interest or ours to proceed with a case we do not feel will be successful. A Peoples Claims advisor will happily discuss your case free of charge with no obligation.

Q. Will my case really cost me nothing?
A. Peoples Claim claimants are covered by a conditional fee agreement ("no-win, no-fee"). This will cost you nothing. Your Peoples Claim advisor will explain this and the process during your initial consultation.

Q. Is there a penalty if I withdraw early?
A. If our lawyers advise you that your claim is unlikely to succeed, you may withdraw and pay nothing. However, if you decide not to proceed for reasons of your own, you may be billed for all charges incurred on your behalf.
